Rouses Market: This recently completed project afforded Heights Venture Architects, LLP to build a relationship with a new client. HVA provided services with a current client to assist with an exterior remodel of the Westwood Village Shopping Center in Lafayette, Louisiana. A strong anchor tenant had been missing from the center. A local supermarket chain based out of Thibodaux, Louisiana, called Rouses Enterprises, LLC recognized an opportunity to fill the void in the shopping center with a new Rouses Market. As part of the remodel of the Westwood Village Shopping Center, which included a new color scheme, to accommodate the new Rouses Market, a new, more prominent facade was added along with a substantial porte-cochere to provide a covered area for customers to load groceries into their cars.
Due to our extensive experience with grocery stores and our involvement with the shopping center, Rouses hired our firm to provide professional store planning, architectural and interior design services for the 43,000 square foot food market that would be the new shopping center anchor. Our firm designed a unique, upscale interior for the Rouses Market that was intended to appeal to the local residents as well as the students attending the nearby university. One impressive feature of the building is the indoor/outdoor entry filled with gourmet products that tempts the senses before entering the actual conditioned space. Our intimate involvement in the planning, design and documentation of the Rouses Market included fixture planning, interior design and graphic design. The store celebrated its grand opening on May 19. We are currently working with Rouses Enterprises on several other conceptual, interior and graphic design projects in southern Louisiana.
